From childhood, Nancy Merrill visited with her family at their Southport, Cozy Harbor residence. The three and half-hour trip from Jackman was always worth the arrival at her final destination overlooking the harbor just across the Pratt’s Island road from the iconic Rand boathouse at the water’s edge. Nancy’s mother grew up in the family house with parents Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Rand Sr. A more idyllic location is hard to imagine and Nancy took full advantage of her time and visits.
Some years back, Nancy’s mother decided to return to the family homestead but the old house was in hard shape. After a considerable amount of work hoping to restore the building, she had to abandon the project because there was just too much work needed. But, daughter Nancy managed a way to rebuild on the property after her mother’s heartbreaking acknowledgment of extensive costly repairs.
Now, as life’s interesting twists and turns provide, Nancy and her husband Frank will be moving their combined chiropractic and massage services to the historic Rand family location. What a dandy spot! Merrill Family Chiropractic and Massage will be welcoming clients in a brand spanking new facility nestled comfortably into a modestly wooded lot overlooking beautiful Cozy Harbor at 26 Pratt’s Island Road on Southport.
Nancy and Frank met at Attean Lake Resort on Birch Island, Jackman in 1988. While attending college in Bangor, they decided to expand their horizons. Nancy went to chiropractic school at Life University outside Atlanta, Georgia and Frank enrolled at Atlanta School of Massage. After graduations, they opened an office in Skowhegan where Frank grew up. In 2007, they moved to the Boothbay region and now live on the property where Nancy’s mom grew up and where their new business is. A significantly shorter commute with a remarkable view!
Nancy and Frank, combined, have 60 years of caring for spines and muscles for people of all ages. Their new location will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday by appointment. They can be reached on the office phone at 207-633-3194 or booked online at https://www.merrillfamilychiropractic.com/
Nancy and Frank have interesting treatment techniques. Frank’s main goal is to get a client to relax with the gentle rocking motion of the Trager style of massage, allowing the nervous system to relax in a way that feels safe and comfortable. The client remains fully clothed. He also incorporates Shiatsu, craniosacral, and Zero Balancing techniques blended with sound and vibration. Dr. Nancy implements low-force techniques to adjust the spine. It is a gentle way for people to experience the healing and well-being of a calmer, more resilient nervous system.
The Merrills are pleased to combine life and work in their beloved community.
